Lee Bullock column:I’m hoping a change of number might mean a change of luck.

I wore number 22 at York years and years ago and have some decent memories. I even got a few goals in the last two seasons there.

The manager gave us the choice this year when it came to squad numbers and I didn’t mind moving.

I had a laugh with Tommy Doherty, saying that he’d nicked my number eight shirt. But he’s welcome to it – it only seems to get one goal a season!

Certain players love to have certain numbers. I know Flynny always like number four and after James Hanson had a good first season he wanted to keep 17.

Then you get those who are given something like 30 and suddenly think they won’t be in the team.

I don’t really mind but maybe a little change might help this year.

Going to Rochdale tomorrow will be a really good test. Notts County had the money but Rochdale were the stand-out team with the way they played last season and set the standards you need to win promotion.

We had some good results there – and one painful game here – so they are players we all know. It’s a good game to get us ready for the following weekend.

Everyone can see the end of pre-season and we’re all thinking about the trip to Shrewsbury already.

The anticipation is building with all the lads and there’s a buzz about the place.

The nearer you get, the more you think about the big one. No matter how many times you’ve done it before, you start day-dreaming about the first game of the season – I think I’ve scored a couple of hat-tricks in my head!

It’s been a long wait since we played our last league match and even the first day of pre-season seems a long time ago now. You think back to all the hard runs you’ve done, the double sessions and putting in the work in the gym.

But we’re getting back to normal now, playing Tuesdays and Saturdays which is what we enjoy.
