The Football Association have decided to take no action against Carlisle United after Leeds United claimed three of their players were attacked by spectators following the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Northern Area Final second leg at Brunton Park in February.

However, an FA spokesman said yesterday Carlisle had been given operational advice on crowd control. It is also understood they have been warned they could face disciplinary action if there is any repeat.

Carlisle say they are still trying to identify the culprits. At the time of the incident, Leeds manager Simon Grayson and chairman Ken Bates were highly critical of the police and Carlisle stewards over their handling of a pitch invasion after Leeds were beaten in a penalty shoot-out.
