Bradford Sunday Alliance League Division One champions Westwood Park will have no fears in the Premier Division next season after a battling performance against holders Buttershaw White Star in the Bradford & District Sunday Cup final at Eccleshill United.

The Sunday Alliance League Cup winners certainly knew they had been in a match after a fighting performance from Park.

Westwood put White Star under pressure in the early stages and both teams had chances but White Star's man of the match Brett Missin and skipper Paul Brown held their respective defences steady.

In an entertaining match, Westwood went in front on the half-hour mark when Cameron Nelson hit home a thunderbolt shot that caused the opposing goalkeeper to receive treatment before play could continue. Buttershaw then replied by putting the opposing goal under pressure and, on the stroke of half-time, a defensive error allowed Graham Sides to hit a surprise equaliser.

Buttershaw began to take control in the second half and it was no surprise when John Selby put White Star in front after 65 minutes.

White Star then pressurised the Westwood goal, and ten minutes from the end a soft penalty award allowed Brett Missin the chance to convert from the spot and give White Star their second cup final success of the week.
