Brighouse Town manager Mark Brier is already planning for life in the Kool Sport Northern Counties East League Premier Division after leading them to promotion in only their second season on the non-league ladder.

“It is a little over a week since our promotion was confirmed, so it has pretty much sunk in but there will be no four-week rest period,” said Brier.

“There was a huge sigh of relief that the season was done and dusted and that we had finished as runners-up but the work doesn’t stop there. I have already been talking to a few players that we would like to add to our squad.

“One thing that will remain is our main club sponsor Duel Seal because we are in the middle of a three-year deal with them. They are happy with our success and we are eternally grateful for their financial backing.

“It has been a pleasure seeing Nigel Meredith, from the company, becoming a fan and coming along to games at home and away.

"We have had great support on and off the field and the committee are 100 per cent committed - if you’ll pardon the pun.”

The fact that the club had no issues with passing the necessary ground grading underlines the level of effort that has been put in over their two years on the football pyramid.

Brier insists that endeavour will continue, and that preparations for next term are already underway. Within days of the season’s end, the wheels were in motion regarding the start of the next one.

“I hope to keep the squad together and make the additions we are looking at,” added Brier.

“We have got FC Halifax Town and Bradford Park Avenue booked in for pre-season friendlies. The Avenue one was verbally agreed with John Deacey, so I don’t know if that will still be on should John leave.

“We also have Emley, who have always been close rivals, and Colne and Ramsbottom United, who are both in Silsden’s division. That is the level we are stepping up to so they will be good tests for us.”
