Liversedge missed out on the top-eight placing they were chasing in the Kool Sport Northern Counties East League Premier Division but manager Sean Regan has seen enough improvement to realise Sedge are on the way back.

The life of a football club is very much a roller- coaster existence, and the lows soon turn into rocketing highs.

Sedge are just beginning their next climb and they hope the peak will soon be in sight.

Regan said: “I’m very pleased with the season and we have had a lot of positive feedback from rival clubs and our own players.

"Liversedge finished with ten points more and five places above the previous season, so that’s good in my book.”

The season just ended was Regan’s first as a manager in his own right but he is a vastly experienced and highly-qualified coach.

He had targeted a top-eight finish for qualification to next season’s President’s Cup but he is satisfied with his first term in the hot-seat.

“If there was a disappointment from the season, it was that we ended ninth, just outside the qualification places,” added the Sedge boss.

“That was down to certain situations over our last four games which were all long away trips.

“We struggled to get the squad together for three of those games because we were scratching about to be honest with injury and unavailability problems.

"If our strongest squad had been involved, I would have backed us to get a maximum return from those four games and we would have been in there with 12 points from 12.

“We had a draw and a defeat though, so we missed out, but when you look at the whole scenario we have plenty to build on for next season.”
