The newly named Dennyboys were the quickest out of the blocks in terms of organising their presentation evening, and the gongs were dished out more than a week ago.

The Thackley players, committee and supporters gathered in the clubhouse at Dennyfield a week yesterday, and the mood was good.

Despite missing out on promotion from the Kool Sport Northern Counties East League Premier Division in the last fortnight of the campaign, it was still a record-breaking one on many fronts.

One of the players to break into the side late in the season was Matthew Hall, son of former stalwart Peter.

Hall junior was recognised by his team-mates from the under-19s as they voted him their players' player of the year. Arley Barnes was named player of the year for the youth side.

The reserve-team players voted for Nathan Woodhead, with their player of the year being awarded to Lee Newall.

There is never an award for top scorer at Dennyfield as the club feel it is a team game and strikers are on the pitch to score goals while players in other departments do their individual jobs, but there were three main trophies to hand out.

First-team players voted for Matthew Morgan, son of manager Dave Morgan – renowned for his spells in the centre of defence for Guiseley and Park Avenue - as their players' player of the year.

Their player award went to Matt Mathers, while the committee went for Paul Maltby.
