A midweek defeat to champions Bridlington Town appears to have scuppered Thackley’s faint hopes of promotion from the Kool Sport Northern Counties East League Premier Division.
They went into the game in runners-up spot but their loss and a victory for Armthorpe Welfare dropped the Dennyboys down to fourth.
Thackley would need to end the season in second place to have any hopes of going up but they trail Armthorpe, who leapfrogged Thackley in midweek, by three points.
And if third-placed Rainworth MW – who have game in hand – win at home to Dinnington Town on Saturday it will be mathematically impossible for Thackley to claim runners-up spot.
Liversedge have another two games to play after Saturday’s trip to Long Eaton but all they are playing for is a place in the top eight and qualification for next season’s President’s Cup.
