Mailcoach and Thornton United will contest the BRADFORD & DISTRICT FA SUNDAY CUP final after both survived tense last-four encounters to book their places.

Holders Mailcoach won by the odd goal in nine against Bradford Sunday Alliance League Division 2A rivals Bradford Phoenix at Rawdon Meadow.

And Thornton, of Division 2B, needed extra time before edging out Division Four underdogs Hockney All Stars 1-0 in a bad-tempered encounter.

Meanwhile, league action saw West Bowling maintain their PREMIER DIVISION title push with a convincing 5-1 home victory over Baildon Trinity Athletic.

Rock-bottom Baildon had the better of the early stages and took the lead with a well-taken goal from Lanrie Becare.

But the County Cup finalists then woke up and two goals in quick succession by Darrell Leach and Phil Brogan gave them the lead.

Substitute Nick Wade then set up a brace for Damian Melvyn before adding the final goal himself.

Queensbury have hit a rich vein of form in recent weeks and secured another good result with a 5-3 win at Relay Recruitment Rovers.

Andy Atkinson and Lee Ashforth both struck twice, backed up by skipper Jonathan Brown’s first goal of the season, while Jermaine Springer (2) and Mohammed Rowan replied.

Bolton Woods beat Oakenshaw 3-1 thanks to Matt Addey’s brace, while Ventus Sports and Clayton Orient shared four goals in a typical end-of-season affair.

Ventus United climbed to third in DIVISION ONE by shocking champions elect Westwood Park 2-1.

But Dudley Hill Rangers remain favourites for the second promotion place after beating Wyke Wanderers for the second time in a week.

Wayne Robert and Andy Bailey outscored Chris Edmondson in a 2-1 success and Dudley Hill now need just four points from three matches to finish above current second-placed side Cuedos Rangers.

DIVISION 1A leaders George Hotel and Manningham, who are second, shared the points and four goals, with Lee Haigh and Leigh Binns on target for the champions-in-waiting.

Third-placed Stocks Lane Rangers suffered a surprise 3-1 defeat at Mill Lane, while Buttershaw Celtic also slipped up 2-1 at home to third-bottom Victoria Rangers.

Dave Pemberton hit both Thackley Shoulder goals in their 2-1 victory at Fiddlers Three.

Gaping Goose will be promoted from DIVISION 1B after beating Junction Thornbury 2-1 in a ‘six-pointer’, with goals by Adam Sharkey and Chris Storey proving decisive.

Chris Caton bagged a brace for Royal as they beat Dudley Hill Rangers Reserves 3-0, while Mick Loxam and Dave Moffatt goals for Bolton Junction Inn were not enough as they lost 5-2 at St George’s.
