Hunsworth and Salts both crashed to defeat as promotion jitters set in for the high-flying Division One duo in the West Riding County Amateur League.

Hunsworth, with only one point from their previous three games, hosted leaders Steeton and slumped to a 4-1 defeat as the gap at the top stretched to five points.

Lee Reilly’s brace for Steeton was backed up by Andy Holden and an own goal, with Lee Padgett netting a penalty consolation.

Salts remain second ahead of Hunsworth on goal difference despite losing 2-0 at home to fifth-placed Littletown. Lee Davey scored in the first half and Jobie Terry added the second after the interval.

Ventus/Yeadon Celtic stay fourth after hammering visitors Overthorpe 8-1. Terry Hargreaves led the way with a hat-trick as Anthony Hannan (2), Adam Turner (2) and Damian Cowling completed the tally. A Gareth Clinch own goal was the only reply.

Sixth-placed Bronte Wanderers are also still in promotion contention after goals from Dave Armstrong and Ross Chapman earned a 2-0 success at lowly Wakefield City.

Tyersal Reserves secured their survival as goals from Alan Morley junior (2), Sean Jackson, Chris Gunson and Jamie Brennan saw off Eastmoor 5-2.

In the Premier Division, only leaders Albion Sports of the championship contenders managed to avoid defeat.

Albion increased their lead at the top to five points over second-placed Campion after scraping a point with a 1-1 draw at Golcar United. Craig Robinson fired the hosts in front but Ryan Firth grabbed an equaliser.

Campion visited lowly Meltham Athletic and, after adapting to the bone-hard ground, took a two-goal interval lead with goals from Sean Durkin and Neil Walters.

But they were then stunned by a second-half blitz which resulted in a 6-2 defeat as Meltham goals flowed from Tom Mathew (2), Tom Shaw, Sam Wardill, Ben Traynor and Edmund Flint. Defending champions Bay Athletic also slipped up as they lost 2-1 at home to Storthes Hall in a Huddersfield derby.

Bay Athletic Reserves secured promotion from Division Two with a 4-0 win at Ardsley Celtic Reserves and now need only four points from their last four games to take the title.

Westbrook YMCA boosted their promotion hopes, while also gaining revenge for a League Cup semi-final defeat, with a narrow 2-1 win over local rivals Rawdon Old Boys thanks to goals by Phil Morton and James McDermott.

Mohammed Rizman and Usman Khan scored the West Horton goals that beat Emley 2-0.

Dudley Hill Athletic are still rooted to the foot of the table after losing 5-1 at Kirkburton Reserves, while Crag Road United lost 5-0 at Storthes Hall Reserves.
