Wibsey maintained their four-point advantage at the top of the West Riding County Amateur League Premier Division after edging out local rivals Tyersal 2-1 at Westwood Park.

Damian Melvin netted twice in the first half for the leaders, before Terry Ryan put Tyersal back into the game on the hour with a penalty to set up a tense last half-hour.

Albion Sports, who have played two games less than Wibsey, stay in second place after a narrow home win over Storthes Hall.

Jordan Missin scored the only goal of the game midway through the first half.

Two goals in a first-half purple patch of ten minutes, from Joe Brown and Ben O’Melia, gave Campion a 2-0 win and all three points in their home game with Lower Hopton.

In Division One, Salts put last week’s slip-up at home to Heckmondwike behind them with a 5-2 win at Hemsworth, strikes coming from from Sam Gooding, Wayne Walsh, Sam Burgess, Paul Maltby and Richard Magson.

The win closed the gap on second-placed Steeton to five points.

Tyersal Reserves moved off the bottom of the table when they shared eight goals at home to Wakefield City, Graham Sides with a hat-trick and Jamie McEwen on target for Tyersal. Arron Hirst also hit a hat-trick, with Rob Bloomfield grabbing Wakefield’s other goal.

Hunsworth’s dreams of a league and cup double were shattered at Steeton when the home team, with Lee Reilly (penalty) and Graham Holmes scoring, won 2-0 to book a semi-final place in the Division One Cup.

Westbrook YMCA moved back to joint top alongside Bay Athletic Res in Division Two after two goals from Phil Morton and others from Ian Craig and Stephen Guilfoyle gave them a 4-1 home win over Dudley Hill Athletic.

Campion Reserves continued their climb up the table and are now in fifth place following their 4-1 victory at Crag Road United, with Chris Helliwell, Andrew Hawker, Jordan Aird and Louis Ettienne hitting the net for Campion, while Paul Moorhouse scored Crag’s consolation.

Storthes Hall Reserves came out on top 4-3 in their Division Two Cup quarter-final at home to Bay Athletic Res to book a last-four home tie with AFC Emley Res.

Ventus/Yeadon Celtic’s young reserve side topped the scoring charts in Division Three with an 11-0 hammering of bottom-placed Wakefield City, Ryan Lambert and Andrew Boltwood both scoring four times, with two from Sean Jack and one by Steve O’Connor.
