Bradford’s second ‘Bringing Communities Together’ tournament attracted over 300 players and 32 teams.
The five-a-side event, held at the 5Alive Soccer Centre in Fairweather Green, is designed to promote community cohesion among people of various ethnic backgrounds living in the city.
An exciting final was a fitting tribute to the spirit of the tournament, with Hockney All Stars defeating Street Elite 3-0.
The competition has been hailed as a resounding success, helping to raise over £1,300 which will go towards building a multi-purpose education centre in Manningham.
The idea originated from the Naqshbandia Active Development Association (NADA) and the Youth Perception Project (YPP).
It was supported by Bradford Youth Grant Makers, Saltaire-based Pace Plc and Seafresh Wholesale Distributors Ltd.
NADA general secretary Nazim Ali said: “We are determined to make this tournament an annual event.
“It has been very successful for the last two years and has raised awareness for the need for communities to work together, irrespective of whatever faith we follow.”
Anyone interested in sponsoring next year’s tournament can contact Ali on 07825-698283.
