Bradford Park Avenue manager John Deacey hopes to have another new signing available for the UniBond League visit of West Yorkshire rivals Frickley Athletic on Saturday.

The Avenue boss is expecting the paperwork to be done which will bring Mark Hume to Horsfall Stadium from Eastwood Town.

The only thing that could delay the deal is red tape, with Avenue having director Kevin Hainsworth filling in as club secretary in the interim period following the resignation of Steve Burnett.

But Deacey does not envisage any setbacks and said: “I met with the player on Tuesday and the transfer should go through with no problems. I am including him in the squad for Saturday.

“Mark was skipper at Eastwood and there was a lot of competition for his signature, with some Conference clubs in for him as well. It is a coup for Avenue and he will be a very good addition to the squad.

“On the other hand, we have allowed Simon Ainge to go to Guiseley on loan. With Amjad Iqbal and James Knowles being in such good form at the centre of our defence, Simon isn’t getting the games he should be so it will do him good to play some football.”

Victory for Avenue at Worksop Town, while Guiseley were slipping to defeat at Kendal Town, last weekend meant the Bradford club climbed above their neighbours in the Premier Division table.

Deacey would like his side to extend the gap, with Guiseley on cup duty this weekend, saying: “It would be nice to put more points on the board and go higher if possible.

“But it won’t be easy against Frickley. They are a very direct side and we are expecting a tough game as they are competitive in all areas.

“They will try to not let us play our game. They went to Guiseley a couple of weeks back and got a 0-0 draw. They are very good at setting their stall out and grinding results out.

“I know Billy (Frickley boss Heath) very well and he always has his team very well organised.”
