Farsley Celtic face a tricky FA Trophy tie against high-flying Blue Square North counterparts Droylsden at Throstle Nest on Saturday.

Celts boss Neil Parsley is without midfielder Matty Young but otherwise has a clean bill of health for the third qualifying round clash. With significant prize money on offer, it is a big game for the club as they remain in administration.

“It would be nice to get through from a financial point of view but the draw has not been very kind to us as Droylsden are second in our league,” said Parsley.

“We are happy that the tie is at home but that doesn’t make it any easier, not when you look at the quality of the opposition.

“But it is a refreshing change from the league for us and, with it being such a big game with so much riding on it, it is one of those you just look forward to. We met at the same stage last season and we managed a 2-0 win, so a repeat of that would be good.

“Matty is serving a one-game ban for an accumulation of bookings but that will give someone else an opportunity. We have fit players ready and waiting for a chance because we have been playing good football and getting results.”

One thing that Parsley is hoping for is some vocal support from the locals to lift the players and make the home advantage a factor. Crowd figures have dropped off since the initial fear that the club could fold.

Parsley said: “I’ve been disappointed with the attendances of late. We still need the support of the people of Leeds in general, not just the village.

“I know things aren’t great with the credit crunch and coming up to Christmas but we are not out of the woods and the income from the gate receipts is vital to us.”
