Kendal Town 2, Guiseley 1

It was a bad day for the Lions in the Lake District as they slumped to a narrow defeat and right back Anthony Lloyd was taken to hospital with a bad knee injury.

The incident happened in stoppage time when Lloyd took a heavy challenge while trying to deal with a Lee Tuck back-pass that had put him under pressure.

Guiseley spokesman Stuart Allen said: “The game was held up for more than 15 minutes as they wouldn’t move him until the paramedics were in attendance.

“They decided it was bad so they took him to Lancaster hospital, which is 21 miles from Kendal.

“It appears to be a knee injury and our physio says he hopes it isn’t as bad as it looked when he first saw it.

“They did have Anthony sitting up before they put him in the ambulance but we won’t know the full extent of the injury until later this week.”

The Cumbrians had taken a firm grip on the game in the first half and were 2-0 up courtesy of a brace from Alex Taylor.

There were claims from the Lions that Taylor’s first, which came in the 29th minute, should have been disallowed for offside.

But there were no arguments when he lashed in his second five minutes before the break.

Guiseley earned a consolation in the last minute when Craig Bentham netted.
