Manager Mark Brier and his assistant Darren Attwood got more than they bargained for when they joined in a special training session.
The pair were put through their paces on bikes at a local gym and video footage of their toiling has been posted on the club’s website.
Brier said: “It was very difficult and gruelling and no doubt the blog on the web has had many hits from people wanting to have a laugh at us.
“Thanks to Fitness First at Halifax, we took them to a spinning session, which is what the top cyclists do.
“It’s all about static bikes and peddling like mad and I can tell you it really takes it out of you!”
The trip was just one example of how Brier likes to keep things fresh and build team morale.
He said: “We have been delighted with the efforts of the players and the response we have had from them when hurdles and challenges have been placed in our way.
“They are an honest bunch and they train really hard. We try to make things fun and freshen training schedules up.
“The lads like to do things that are a bit different, like the sessions we did at the local swimming baths. Some of those photos are on the website as well and people always comment on them.”
