The Eagles will be under new management for tomorrow's home game against fellow strugglers Hemsworth MW after the appointment of Paul Jenkinson.

Jenkinson was ushered into the hot-seat in time for him to take charge of the preparations for the fixture.

Club secretary Mark Holstead said: “We are pleased to announce Paul as the new manager. He joins us from West Riding County Amateur Premier Division side Lower Hopton, where he transformed that club.

“He feels he has taken them a long way and wanted to take a job at a club on the non-league ladder. We did interview him when we were looking to replace Steve Watson but we went for Danny Bolton.

“That didn’t work out because Danny had to go working away and never actually took over.

“We didn’t want another debacle like that one so we have gone about things quietly until everything was done.

“Paul had a watching brief last Monday when we went out of the West Riding County Cup at Wakefield. We had talks with him again on Tuesday and he actually took training on Wednesday."

Holstead is already impressed with Jenkinson’s impact, adding: “We like what we have seen and heard from him.

“He is very keen, very efficient, has good ideas and has already brought new faces into the playing squad.

“Paul came very close to Danny in the interview process first time around and can consider himself unfortunate that he didn’t land the job back then.

“We feel it is a good appointment and the club has a very positive atmosphere at the moment.”
