Silsden 5 Glasshoughton Welfare 2
Silsden earned a home derby against Bradford Park Avenue in the second round of the West Riding County Cup by brushing Glasshoughton Welfare aside tonight.
The hero of the first-round tie was Harry Thompson, who bagged a hat-trick, but striker Chris Simpson weighed in with a brace. The best part for the Cobbydalers was that they came from two goals down to win the tie.
The visitors took the lead through Rob Malone in the 40th minute and doubled their advantage minutes later when a shot came off the woodwork to go in off the back of home keeper Danny Thorpe.
Simpson netted in first-half stoppage time and a minute into the second period Thompson levelled the tie.
Soon after Simpson was fouled in the area by visiting keeper John Sykes but got up to net the resulting penalty.
Thompson added his second on the night midway through the second half but saved the best until last when he curled in a shot to end a superb move in the 74th minute.
