Bradford Park Avenue head to Whitby Town in the UniBond Premier Division tomorrow night, looking to build on Saturday’s win at Stocksbridge Park Steels.

The 3-2 victory was new boss John Deacey’s first league game of his second stint in charge after stepping up from assistant following the resignation of Lee Sinnott.

The success at sixth-placed Stocksbridge made up for a bad defeat at home to Clitheroe in the FA Trophy but Avenue need to build on that with a good result at Whitby.

Mid-table Avenue are five places above their hosts but can be overtaken with a home win.

Deacey said: “We will go into the game with the same squad as long as Chris Hall is fit, which I expect he will be. Chris did really well at Stocksbridge and scored two goals.

“We took him off with about ten minutes to go but that was just a precaution to protect his ankle.”

Deacey revealed he could go with the same strikeforce that performed well on Saturday.

He said: “We played Matty James up front with Chris and it worked well. It was just something to try to improve our potency.

“Chris got his goals and Matty was a constant threat to the opposition’s defence so we might go with that formation again.”

Deacey has brought Rory Prendergast back to the club and signed Gavin Huxtel from West Riding County Amateur side Ardsley Celtic. Both were unused substitutes at Stocksbridge.
