Leeds are making a frantic last-minute search for goalkeeping back up for Casper Ankergren for tomorrow night’s Coca-Cola League One match at Bristol Rovers.

With Shane Higgs injured, loanee Frank Fielding was on the bench against Millwall at the weekend but he has now returned to Blackburn Rovers.

That leaves manager Simon Grayson with the option of making another short-term loan or recalling Alan Martin from his loan spell at Accrington Stanley.

Martin has made ten appearances for League Two outfit Stanley but is currently not their first choice and Grayson would ideally like someone with more experience to cover for the sometimes erratic Ankergren.

The match against sixth-placed Rovers is Leeds' match in hand and victory will give them a four-point cushion over nearest rivals Charlton.

But a win could be more important than just the three points because Grayson will be looking to see how his players react to that first defeat at Millwall.

It was about this time last season that Leeds’ promotion hopes took a nose dive with a run of seven defeats in nine matches that finally led to Gary McAllister’s sacking.

Grayson will be looking for more steel from this season’s line-up.
