West Bowling returned to winning ways in National Conference One with a dramatic 30-24 win at Division One rivals Normanton Knights.

Bowling dominated the open ten minutes and were rewarded with a try from strong-running second rower Mike Kite.

Bowling then came under sustained pressure for the rest of the half, conceding two converted tries and a penalty to turn round 14-4 down.

When the Knights opened the second-half scoring, few may have thought the game was over but Bowling rallied and a fine individual effort from full back James Dewhirst reduced the deficit.

Within minutes it was Dewhirst again who jinked his way over and, with Josh Essex converting both efforts, Bowling were just two points adrift.

The Knights extended their lead with a converted try but it was left to second row Johnny Summers to round off a man-of-the-match performance when he bagged two tries late on to secure a fine victory.
