City have been tipped to make it a season to remember.

Their bid for a fifth straight win was halted by league new boys Burton in a 1-1 draw at Valley Parade.

But opposing centre half Guy Branston believes the Bantams have assembled a team capable of ensuring there will be plenty to cheer for the fans.

“Bradford have an amazing side for this league,” said the former Sheffield Wednesday and Rotherham stopper.

“I can’t see Stuart McCall not doing well because he’s got a great young side mixed with good experience.

“I’m sure they will kick on this season because they are going to cause everyone problems.

“You’ve got experience in there as well as young lads who are willing to run all day – and I was really impressed with the two young forwards.

“The lad Hanson is a big lump up front at 6ft 3in and he’s going to win his headers. He makes it very difficult to defend against.”

McCall was disappointed to see the winning run rubbed out after Gareth Evans had fired City into a first-half lead with his third goal of the season.

Defender Paul Boertien levelled with 17 minutes left and Burton had late chances to nick it.

McCall admitted: “We needed the second goal and had the opportunities but unfortunately didn’t take the right options.

“But Burton probably deserved a point because they were decent. Teams that have come up have generally done well in recent years and there’s no reason why Burton can’t do what Exeter and Hereford have managed.

“Their front two were a real handful with their work ethic. I said to our centre halves that it will be like playing against Evo because they won’t give you any peace.

“It would have been a disaster if we’d lost the game. The lads are disappointed but I think it’s a point gained.

“We can be better but I can’t ask more in terms of energy. It was a very hot day and we certainly worked very hard.”

Evans added: “You’ve got to fancy yourself to finish the game off when you’re leading at home.

“Everybody’s a bit down in the dumps but that’s a positive sign and we’re still on a good unbeaten run.”
