Speculation is growing that Derby striker Liam Dickinson’s long-delayed loan move to Elland Road, may be about to take place.

Dickinson, whose original move was called off because of injury, is fit again and the decision of Leeds boss Simon Grayson to allow Lee Trundle to return to Bristol City suggests he has other options to see him through the last games of the campaign.

Trundle had only managed one goal in ten appearances for Leeds, and Grayson knows he needs better back up in case of injury to star striker Jermaine Beckford, whose hat-trick against Yeovil took him to 28 goals in 29 games.

It was Beckford’s third hat-trick of the season, and Grayson said: “He can be an enigma - three games ago he scored against Scunthorpe twice, then an indifferent couple of nights against Oldham and Bristol Rovers, but then he responds like this.

“When you’ve got somebody in your team who can finish like he does, then you’ve got to keep going with him.

“He’s a fantastic talent and he’s the talisman of our team and if he can get a consistent base into his game then he can go to the very top.”

Meanwhile Leeds are considering signing 33-year-old former Derby defender Darren Powell, who has been training at Thorp Arch and played in tonight’s reserve game at Hartlepool.
