Aidan White, Leeds United’s 17-year-old left back from Menston, has received a timely boost from manager Simon Grayson.
White, who was just 16 when he made an impressive debut in the 4-0 Carling Cup thrashing of Crystal Palace in August, made nine appearances under former manager Gary McAllister.
However, injuries have prevented him showing Grayson what he can do and the youngster has not played for the first team since November 11.
Grayson said: “I am looking forward to working with Aidan when he is fit and available for selection. I haven’t had a chance to look at Aidan yet. He was just coming back from a hip injury when I took over.
“He had two training sessions with the first team and then played in the youth team and got caught on the top of his ankle. It will probably be two more weeks before he is fit but I am led to believe he is a very good player.
“He has pace and a good left foot and I am sure he will be a big acquisition for this club in the next few years. His injuries may have come at a time when he needed a rest from the pressure of playing in the first team but if you are good enough you are certainly old enough.”
