Fearless Dewsbury Rams are ready to give Aussie Test star Steve Menzies a traditional warm welcome to English rugby.

Following his major move from Manly Sea Eagles, the stellar Bulls signing gets his first taste of what lies ahead in tomorrow night’s friendly at Tetley’s Stadium.

NRL legend Menzies starts in the second row alongside Matt Cook and part-timers Dewsbury are relishing the chance to go up against one of the game’s greats.

“He’s a big name and it’s really good that Bradford are bringing players like that,” said Rams boss Warren Jowitt.

“It helps Dewsbury no end, because it encourages supporters to come and watch.

“Steve Menzies is a massive player in Australia – probably one of the biggest names to come over here in a while – and everyone wants to see what he’s going to do.”

Jowitt has something in common with the Kangaroo having been a former Bulls second-rower himself, playing alongside current boss Steve McNamara in the 1997 title-winning squad.

The visitors have named a formidable-looking team but the Championship One outfit are not concerned by the amount of class they are set to face.

Jowitt said: “I know Bradford are a Super League outfit and a very good one. There’s some quality players in there and they’re bringing a very strong side.

“But I’m not bothered who’s in front of us, we have to compete. I always played my rugby like that and that’s what I am looking for tomorrow.

“Some people like to play against lesser sides but you don’t really get a true indication from that. Playing a quality side will give us a true idea of where we are.”

Jowitt added: “We’ve still got James Walker, Chris Hall and James Elston to come in but this is about my strongest team.

“Obviously it is a big challenge for us but I expect Dewsbury to be competitive.”

McNamara names England World Cup loose forward Jamie Langley at prop due to the unavailability of Sam Burgess, Andy Lynch and Nick Scruton.

He is expected to spell with No 13 Glenn Morrison up front but otherwise the Bulls are at strength.

Rikki Sheriffe debuts on the wing where he partners 18-year-old England Academy centre Jason Crookes, who gets his first real slice of senior Bulls action.

Mike Worrincy is set to make his bow off the bench and skipper Paul Deacon is named at scrum half following his knee surgery.
