Farsley will be bubbling with confidence after Tuesday’s FA Trophy draw at Burton Albion but they face the prospect of a tough game on their return to Blue Square North action without the injured Amjad Iqbal.

Managerless Stafford Rangers visit Throstle Nest on Saturday for their first game since Steve Bull was dismissed, the former England and Wolves centre forward losing his job due to cost-cutting.

Celts boss Neil Parsley feels that will add an edge to the fixture as the visitors’ squad members could be playing for their futures with the midlands outfit.

“Steve’s assistant is in charge but that doesn’t mean he will have the same ideas and strategies, so it will be uncharted territory,” said Parsley.

The Farsley manager had good and bad news after the 1-1 draw against Nigel Clough’s Blue Square Premier table-toppers.

He said: “Amjad came off at Burton with a suspected broken arm but there was so much swelling that he had to go back to hospital for another assessment today. Until those x-rays are looked at, we won’t know if it is a break.

“It takes a lot for Amjad to come off, and he was in a lot of pain in the dressing room and on the bus on the way back, but it significantly improved overnight.

“If it isn’t broken he still won’t be ready for Saturday but he could be back for the replay at Throstle Nest on Tuesday.”

The absence of the influential Iqbal will be a huge blow but midfielder Dominic Krief finally served his one-game suspension on Tuesday and will be available for selection.
