Only four games involving West Riding County Amateur League sides took place at the weekend as the poor weather continued to frustrate.

After the frozen pitches of the previous week, the grounds had thawed slightly but rain through Friday night and for most of Saturday morning left most grounds unplayable.

Those who beat the conditions included Ventus Yeadon Celtic, who booked their place in the fourth round of the West Riding County FA Challenge Trophy with a 5-3 victory at Ovenden West Riding Reserves.

Alex Cusack and Anthony Hannan both netted twice in the second half for Celtic after Joe Dunsworth had pulled them level following Craig Boothroyd’s opener for Ovenden.

Boothroyd added a second from the spot and Danny Megson grabbed the other for the hosts.

Crag Road United saw their Division One visitors South Bradford adapt much better to the wet conditions and found themselves 4-0 down at the interval after goals from Sam Morton, Terry Oddy, John Flanagan and former Crag player Chris McMahon.

The only consolation for the hosts was a late goal from Paul Moorhouse.

Three points from West Horton’s home game with Dynamoes would have taken them one point clear at the top of Division Two but they had to settle for one in a 4-4 draw with strugglers Dynamoes.

Andy Bailey, Liam Gallagher, Chris Gibbon and Jamie Shields netted for Dynamoes, who were 4-1 up before Hussain Safraz, Rafaqat Ali, Tahir Khan and Ibad Rashid scored to save West Horton from defeat.

Bay Athletic extended their lead in the Reserve Division to nine points after beating Hall Green United 6-2, with Nicky Shaw netting a hat-trick.
