Manners duo keep it in the family

Bradford’s Jermaine Manners took the World Racketlon Tour Scottish Open title in Edinburgh as part of a unique father and son double act.

Manners’ skill and determination saw him romp to the crown and secure the No 1 slot in the British rankings.

He dominated the badminton element of the tournament, losing only seven points out of a possible total of 63, before winning the title with style in the tennis leg.

Manners’ father Wingrove also won the Over-45s World Tour title convincingly, the first time a father and son have triumphed at the same event.

Jermaine is likely to form part of the England team for the World Championships in Germany in November 08 and, on current form, is likely to feature prominently.

Racketlon is a match containing four sets – one each in tennis, table tennis, squash and badminton.
