BRADFORD Salem are still on for a treble of trophies.

Having already secured the Counties One Yorkshire title, the Heaton-based rugby union club are in sight of a second cup final.

They face Keighley in the Yorkshire Shield decider at Doncaster on Saturday, May 18 (3pm) but could also have a final seven days before.

Salem, awarded successive walkovers by Wensleydale and Wetherby, are through to the semi-finals of the Papa John’s Counties One Plate, where they host Counties One Yorkshire rivals Pocklington this coming Saturday.

Pock, who finished fourth in the table, won their quarter-final 37-10 at Stamford last weekend.

If Salem win that they will be through to the final at Darlington's Mowden Park on Saturday, May 11 against either Leamington (Counties One Midlands West [South]), or Manchester-based Old Aldwinians (Counties One Lancashire & Cheshire).

However, Salem Boars, their second XV, who play in the Yorkshire RFU Central North Merit Table, were beaten 39-33 at Shay Lane by West Leeds’ second XV in a points-filled semi-final of the Aire-Wharfe Cup.

Salem’s tries came from Watson Vasuitoga, Ricky Lundy, Danny Belcher, Sam Riley and a penalty try.

Belcher added three conversions on an individually excellent day for him, but it a visiting player who was the clear man-of-the-match.

That key figure for West Leeds was fly half Ryan Hoey, who totalled 21 points from two tries, four conversions and a penalty.

West Leeds' Seconds face Ilkley Seconds at Stacks Field in the final tonight, with kick-off at 6:30pm.

Ilkley made the showpiece by beating visitors Wharfedale Thirds 22-13 at Stacks Field.

Their tries came from JH Johnson (2) and Charles Ramsay, with Harry Smith adding two conversions and a penalty.
