BINGLEY Congs III are the last team to qualify for the semi-finals of the Cowling Cup.

They were unable to complete their Super Over decider at home to Cononley on Saturday due to rain, so a coin toss was held by video call, which Congs won.

That meant that Bradley II were unable to overtake Congs and will therefore not be in the semi-finals.

Congs will therefore face Hepworth & Idle II in the first semi-final at Ingrow on Sunday, August 20 (10am), with Cononley, who had already qualified, meeting Cowling II in the second semi-final (1.30pm), with the final to follow at 4.30pm.

Rain heavily disrupted Saturday’s league programme, but there was joy in Division One for 18-year-old Harry Pinkney.

The Hepworth & Idle teenager took 5-13, including a hat-trick that was spread over two overs, as he and Jonny Thompson (4-8) caused a staggering collapse.

Visitors Denholme were 68-3 but crumbled to 71 all out, with the last four batters all registering ducks.

The Westfield Laners knocked off the runs inside 20 overs for the loss of two wickets, with captain Jamie Topham ending on 39 not out, adding 49 for the second wicket with keeper Luke Harland (26).

That win put Hepworth & Idle fourth on run rate over Haworth and just one point behind third-placed Gargrave.

Haworth Road Meths did not detain the scorers for long at Gargrave, being dismissed for 47 in 26.4 overs after being sent in.

Only Naseeb Ali (11) made double figures, and the hosts won by nine wickets in just 6.3 overs, with Meths heading the bottom half of the table on 107 points.

All five matches in Division Two fell victim to the weather, as did three of the five matches in Division Three, where Haworth II fared even worse with the bat than Denholme and Meths, being back in the pavilion for 42 against Bowling Baptist at Scotchman Road.

Captain Gareth Griffiths made a defiant 19 but there were also four ducks, as Nadeem Khan (4-7), Usman Ahmed (3-19) and Ishtiaq Raza (2-0) proved irresistible.

The Division Three leaders lost just one wicket in knocking off the runs in six overs.

Three of the four matches in Division Four were rained off but the only one that wasn’t was at High Royds, where improving Menston Crompark II won by three wickets against Bowling Baptist II.

Sent in, the visitors made 95, with the majority of the runs coming from No.3 Mueed Malik (23) and No.9 Andrew George (26no).

Baptist used seven bowlers in reply, and Crompark didn’t find things easy either, with Muzafar taking 2-16 and Rizwan Ali 2-27.
