JACOB Roach played the key innings as Eldwick & Gilstead won their clash at Haworth Road Meths in Division One of the Mewies Solicitors Craven League.

Meths won the toss and made 136-7, thanks in the main to Goher Ayoub (29) and captain Charles Briggs (35).

However, Roach then scored 69 to help take the twin villages to a four-wicket win in the 25th over, with both sides almost two wins away from the relegation zone.

Wilsden’s position is more precarious as they are only six points ahead of Sutton, who are in the second demotion berth and defeated them.

Pete Longley (24) and Ali Khaliq (36) did best with the bat as Wilsden took first knock but could only make 106-7.

Hosts Sutton then won by seven wickets in the 17th over, with Sam Mitchell (3-37) taking all the victims.

There was no better news for Hepworth & Idle at Gargrave, where only four Westfield Laners got into double figures in their 109, led by Nigel Poustie (24).

Gargrave then won by five wickets in the 23rd over to leave Hepworth & Idle in mid-table.

The same can be said for Hepworth & Idle II in Division Two, whose match at home to Skipton CI never started due to rain.

Bradford & Bingley III won the toss and batted on an improving Sandy Lane wicket and made 175-8 at home to promotion-chasing Airedale, with Brad Davis (62) and Shahbaz Ahmed (63) both hitting nine fours and two sixes, adding 54 for the fourth wicket.

However, it took Airedale inside 28 overs to knock them off for four down, leaving Bingley stranded at the bottom.

Bowling Baptist’s match in Division Three at Keighley III was abandoned after the hosts had made 145, but they are still looking good to go up alongside Cononley, who received a concession from bottom-of-the-table Wilsden II.

Third-placed Bingley Congs III were at Skipton CI II, who won the toss and made 161-5 in a rain-interrupted match.

However, Congs were seen home by Waj Mahmood, who made 69 in a six-wicket triumph.

In Division Four, second-placed Bowling Baptist II never started at home to Glusburn II due to rain, and neither did Hepworth & Idle III at home to Denholme II.
