MARTIN McCulley has played one of the innings of the season in the Mewies Solicitors Craven League.

The 32-year-old came to the crease with his Hepworth & Idle side in big trouble at 22-5 at leaders Glusburn in Division Two.

However, he rescued his team with an unbeaten 127 off just 112 balls, hitting 15 fours and seven sixes, in helping them to 247, adding 54 for the sixth wicket with skipper Mikey Newell (11), 43 for the seventh with Saeed Rehman (23) and 104 for the eighth with Muhammad Abdullah (36).

Glusburn could only reply with 192, with Abdullah taking 4-41, Rehman 2-29 and Jack Lorriman 2-12 as the Westfield Laners’ second XI climbed to second in the table.

However, they cannot be promoted as their first XI are already in Division One.

In danger of slipping out of Division Two at the opposite end are Bradford & Bingley, who were no match for improving Ingrow at Hainworth Lane.

Ingrow, who had an opening partnership of 115, totalled 247-7, Hammad Khan taking 4-31, and Bingley were then castled for 48, Noel Flynn batting through the innings for 17 not out.

Haworth Road Meths handed Cowling only their second league defeat of the season in Division One.

Meths chose to bat at Keighley Road and made 182, with five players making over 20, led by keeper Fahim Khan (32).

Mohammed Sajjad (5-36) and Tom Kaznowski (3-34) then helped restrict Cowling to 171, giving Meths an 11-run victory.

Hepworth & Idle notched a one-wicket win over Eldwick & Gilstead in a low-scoring encounter at Westfield Lane.

Alex Robinson (4-29), Jonny Thompson (3-23) and Simon Raistrick (2-19) were among the wickets as the twin villages made 112 after being sent in, Matthew Sharp top-scoring with 29.

However, the home side found things no easier when they batted, but, crucially, they had keeper Luke Harland at the crease at the end, and his 48 not out made the difference – just.

He was helped by Jamie Topham (23), but the Westfield Laners still had to recover from 37-5 as Ajeet Singh (3-45) and Sharp (4-27) held sway.

Wilsden conceded 274-5 at Riddlesden, with Mohammed Zulfiqar hitting five sixes in the last over on the way to 50 not out.

The visitors replied with 149, with Pete Longley scoring 59.

Bowling Baptist and Cononley continue to have a healthy lead in Division Three.

Baptist did not encounter much resistance against Skipton CI II at Sandylands, scoring 229-8 after winning the toss, with Hassan Mughal playing a captain’s knock with 62.

Aiding him were Raees Ishtiaq (31), Muneeb Rashid (40) and Nadeem Khan (35), with Ishtiaq and Mughal putting on 50 for the third wicket, and Mughal and Khan 96 for the fifth.

CI were then back in the pavilion for 71, with Ishtiaq Raza taking 5-11 and Muhammad Ali Raza 2-20.

Meanwhile, Gargrave II narrowed the gap on third-placed Bingley Congs III to three points after defeating them soundly at Sandy Lane.

Only Congs skipper Sam Higgins (23) made a score of note as they were dismissed for 70 after being sent in, and Gargrave won by six wickets, despite Sarfraz Mahmood taking 2-12.

Bottom-of-the-table Wilsden II were similarly outclassed by visitors Menston Crompark, being skittled for 51 after winning the toss, with only Jose Cherian (25) and Oliver Humphreys (14) making double figures.

Crompark won by nine wickets in the 18th over.

Bowling Baptist II are in the mix for promotion from Division Four, dismissing Airedale II for 101 at Scotchman Road, with Asad Hussain, the sixth bowler used, taking 5-9.

Muzaffar Hussain (50) and Rizwan Ali (33no) then almost took the hosts to victory, but they still won by eight wickets in the 17th over.

Hepworth & Idle’s third XI lost by 44 runs at home to Ingrow II, who made 191, with Daniel Moore taking 4-56, 14-year-old Finley Matthews 2-37 and his 15-year-old brother Archie 3-47.

Moore then scored 35 and keeper Alex O’Connell 37, adding 54 for the seventh wicket after they had been 52-6, but they were still dismissed for 147.
