HEPWORTH & Idle’s first and second teams have both qualified for home cup semi-finals in the Mewies Solicitors Craven League.

The Westfield Laners’ first XI will face Gargrave in the league’s blue-riband event, the Wynn Cup, on Sunday, July 16, with the other tie being Eldwick & Gilstead v Cowling.

Meanwhile, in the Cowling Cup, which is a T20 competition, Hepworth & Idle’s second XI will kick-off finals day against an as yet unknown opponent at Ingrow on Sunday, August 20.

The club to be pencilled in is likely to be either Bingley Congs III, if they win their bowl-out against Cononley on August 5, or Bradley II.

The other semi-final is Cononley v Cowling II.

Hepworth & Idle wrapped up their Wynn Cup group fixtures with a six-wicket victory at Wilsden, who made 160 after opting to bat.

Chris Longley (48) and Pete Longley (27) put on 76 for Wilsden’s third wicket before they were pegged back by Hepworth & Idle skipper Simon Raistrick (4-27), with the Robinson brothers also in the wickets, Alex taking 2-19 and Jonathan 2-33.

Jonny Thompson (60no) and Jamie Topham (29no) then added 85 unbroken to take the visitors to victory in just the 28th over.

Glusburn didn’t really capitalise on winning the toss at home to Eldwick & Gilstead, making only 144 as Ajeet Singh (4-30) proved troublesome.

Brothers Charlie (66no) and Arnie Raistrick (29no) then took the twin villages to a six-wicket victory at the end of the 30th over after Deependra Rathore had made 30.

Keeper Fahim Khan (58) and Goher Ayoub (40) formed the backbone of Haworth Road Meths’ 192-8 in a partnership of 71 for the sixth wicket, Kristian Hargraves adding 24 not out.

Haworth were then dismissed for 137, with Deepal Dissanayake taking 3-18 as the wickets were shared.

In the other Wynn Cup group, Bowling Baptist faced fellow newcomers Menston Crompark at High Royds and came away with a 10-run victory.

Sent in, Baptist skipper Raees Ishtiaq made a crucial contribution of 80 in their 170, hitting 11 fours and a six and helping them to recover from 49-5.

Crompark were on track at 125-4 but were undone by Nadeem Khan (4-30) and fell just short.

Their second XIs were also in opposition at Scotchman Road in the John Clayton Cup, and this time the outcome was more decisive.

Baptist made 167, with 62 from Rehaan Ghazanfar and 28 from Mohammed Ibrar.

Muhammad Awais (3-18) and Mohammed Owais (2-15) then undermined Crompark’s reply of 82 before Farkhan Ali (4-16) finished them off.

Bradford & Bingley III thrashed Glusburn II at Sandy Lane, scoring 240-6 after being sent in, Shahbaz Ahmed hitting an unbeaten 82, with support from Brad Davis (40), keeper Alex Tudge (33) and Irfan Ul Haque (32no).

Bingley then used seven bowlers as Glusburn were skittled for 63, with Farhan Khalid taking 4-16, Ul Haque 3-13 and Ahmed 2-0.

Likewise Hepworth & Idle III were no match for Sutton II, who made 227-7 after being sent in at Cambing.

The hosts were then rolled over for 109, with Faisal Ashfaq (27) doing best.

Hepworth & Idle II won their double header at Westfield Lane, defeating Keighley III by three wickets and Wilsden II by six wickets.

The Wilsden match came first, with the visitors making 90-7 after choosing to bat, opener Nigel Butterfield scoring 38.

Hepworth & Idle opener Chris Hawksworth then made an unbeaten 55, including eight fours and a six, as the Westfield Laners won in the 16th over.

Then Keighley chose to bat and scored 118-8, with Tom Hawksworth bagging 3-9.

Swaraj Thakur (32no) and Mark Davies (24) then got runs down the order as the hosts triumphed in the 17th over.

Bingley Congs III wrapped up their Cowling Cup programme, apart from that bowl-out, by making 183-8 at Long Lee II, with Waj Mahmood scoring 49 and Adam Cranfield 31.

Two of Long Lee’s players scored a combined total of 74 but there was little else in their 106 as Shahid Mahmood took 3-12, newcomer Jude Hawthorne 2-0, Ali Asghar 2-18 and Simon Webster 2-21.
