WILSDEN, who are now next to bottom in Division One, suffered in the sun at Shay Gate, conceding one of the biggest totals in the history of the Mewies Solicitors Craven League.

Visitors Gargrave won the toss and, taking advantage of the short boundary square, scored a mammoth 416-7, with former Bradford & Bingley player Matt Simpson scoring 149 not out and keeper James Freebury 170.

Wilsden’s reply started disastrously as they were 6-4 but at least they finished on 191, with Pete Longley scoring 57, skipper Sam Mitchell 47 and Ben Mitchell 54, which came off 48 balls and contained five fours and four sixes.

Sam Mitchell and Longley added 82 for the fifth wicket to at least ensure Wilsden avoided total humiliation.

Jonny Thompson-inspired Hepworth & Idle are fourth after defeating Sutton by six wickets at Westfield Lane.

The visitors won the toss but could only score 135 as Thompson took 5-26, Simon Raistrick 2-5 and Mark Harland 2-26.

Thompson then scored 50, with Raistrick making 26 and Harvey Matthews 24.

Haworth Road Meths won the toss at Denholme and scored 274-6, with Andy Gudgeon (58) and Deepal Dissanayake (75) adding 117 for the second wicket.

Dissanayake’s runs came off 76 balls, including nine fours and three sixes, but the real fireworks came from Fahim Khan, whose 72 lasted only 38 balls and contained eight fours and five sixes.

Khan put on 57 for the fifth wicket with Goyer Ayoub (15) before Denholme replied with 192-7.

Haworth made Eldwick & Gilstead pay for putting them in at Grange Road, scoring 279-7, despite Matthew Sharp taking 3-39.

The twin villages’ reply never really got off the ground and they were back in the pavilion for 141, Oliver Hall scoring 35 and Pat Carberry 30.

Hepworth & Idle II are up to fourth in Division Two after winning a run-filled encounter at Long Lee, who made 301-8 after winning the toss, Owen Price doing well to return 3-65.

However, that score was not enough as the second strings replied with 303-7, an innings that was dominated by Tom Hawksworth’s magnificent 150 not out off 116 deliveries, including 20 fours and five sixes.

Martin McCulley was his partner in crime with 67 off 63 balls, including five fours and five sixes, as the target was passed with one ball remaining of the 42nd over.

Basement boys Bradford & Bingley III lost by 48 runs at Bradley, who made 215-7 after winning the toss.

Bingley replied with 167, with Shahbaz Ahmed scoring 54.

Bowling Baptist lead Division Three after a comprehensive win over third-placed Bingley Congs III at Sandy Lane.

Shahbaz Ishaq’s 101, off 85 balls, was the highlight of Baptist’s 285-6 after they won the toss, but he had good support from Mudassar Hussain (41), Raees Ishtiaq (55) and Omar Hayat (39no).

Congs’ reply of 111 was a one-man show, with Sarfraz Mahmood scoring 68 not out off 46 balls, including 10 fours and two sixes.

The next highest scorer was No.11 Simon Webster with six as Shazaid Yousaf took 5-35 and Muhammad Zeeshan Tariq 2-27.

There was no joy for Bowling Baptist II in Division Four, however.

They made just 118 after winning the toss at Scotchman Road, with Muneeb Rashid scoring 31 and Rizwan Ali 21.

Denholme II won by six wickets, despite Ghazanfar Bashir’s 2-23.
