IT was a doubly successful Bank Holiday for Woodlands, New Farnley Townville and Pudsey St Lawrence who all recorded two wins over the weekend.

In contrast, the bottom two sides Bankfoot and Hanging Heaton lost twice over the three days along with Jer Lane and Farsley.

Bankfoot’s decision to bat first against champions Woodlands backfired miserably as they were skittled out for 71. Tom Clee (4-26) and Elliot Richardson (3-39) did much of the damage. The champions cruised home without losing a wicket thanks to Tim Jackson (40no) and Sam Frankland (30no). It means they have now won all their first seven fixtures.

Hanging Heaton must have felt they were in with a good chance of a second win of the season when they made 252-7 against Ossett, Bradley Wood scoring 70, Callum Geldart (52), Adam Patel (34) and Myles Wood (32). Left arm spinner Mattie Race picked up 4-77.

Ossett had other ideas and with Rohan Mehmi making 111 not out – his maiden century for the club – they eased home by seven wickets with five overs to spare. Mehmi struck one six and 14 fours and gained good support from Will Wade (44) and Race (43).

Bradford & Bingley finally recorded their first win of the campaign as they overcame Jer Lane by 53 runs. The victory was set up by a brilliant innings of 180 from their talented Australian batsman Corey Miller, above. Eight sixes and 17 fours flowed from his bat as he helped his side post the day’s highest total of 301-4.

Miller was joined in an opening stand of 132 by Jacob Slator (42) and followed up by adding 137 for the second wicket with skipper Ed Brown (53). It was another tough afternoon for the Jer Lane bowlers who conceded 301 for the second time this weekend.

Jer Lane at least had the consolation of picking up maximum batting points as they replied with 248, Overseas player Israr Ullah made 74 and Adal Islam (64).

Opener Abdul Wahid, above, made a century and skipper Jack Hughes took 7-41 as Townville defeated Methley by 153 runs to record their fifth win of the season. Wahid, who hit three sixes and 13 fours in his 106, was joined in an opening stand of 154 by Jonny Booth (58) which provided the foundation for a total of 298-6. Spinner Cameron Sharp picked up 4-65 for Methley who were bowled out for 145 in reply. James Wainman (36) and Alex Cree (34) were the main contributors as Hughes tore through their batting with his best figures of the season.

New Farnley captain Lee Goddard returned to form with a sparkling innings of 90 as his team chased down Farsley’s score of 195 to win by six wickets with 19.2 overs to spare. Steve Bullen continued his good form with 55 in a second wicket stand of 121 with Goddard, before New Zealander Cam Fletcher hit four towering sixes in a breezy 40 not out.

Farsley, who opted to bat first after winning the toss, had several batsmen get starts without any of them being able to go on and make a telling contribution. Captain Matthew Lumb top scored with 33 while Ryan Cooper scored 30. Left arm spinner Adam Ahmed took 3-39 against his old club.
