NEWCOMERS Bowling Baptist have settled into life in the Mewies Solicitors Craven League very nicely.

Their first XI are second in Division Three, while their second XI are third in Division Four, but have a game in hand.

It was the second XI who were involved in the most one-sided match of the day.

They batted first at Long Lee II and made a whopping 339-5, with Ghazanfar Bashir and Muneeb Rashid putting on 209 unbroken for the sixth wicket.

Bashir eventually retired having made 157 off just 112 balls, including 21 fours and eight sixes, while Rashid also reached three figures –ending up 100 not out off 63 deliveries, which contained 10 fours and eight sixes.

The hosts were then dismissed for 58, with Phil Atkinson carrying his bat for 22, although his team-mates could not defy the outstanding Imran Muzafar (6-3-4-6), as well as Rashid and Rizwan Ali, who both took 2-5.

Baptist’s first-team match was more sedate as they made 126 at Haworth II after being sent in, Raees Ishtiaq scoring 41 and Akhtar Mahmood 33.

Ishtiaq Raza (5-12) and Omar Hayat (3-13) then helped topple the West Laners for 69.

Hepworth & Idle are up to second in Division One, with brothers Jonathan and Alex Robinson again proving irresistible.

Jonathan took 4-10 and Alex 5-30 as Denholme were skittled for 48 at Keighley Road, Hepworth & Idle then winning by seven wickets inside 13 overs.

Haworth Road Meths are up to third after winning a low-scoring encounter at home to Gargrave.

Meths chose to bat first but only made 129-9, the bulk of their runs coming from opener Deepal Dissanayake (34), Mohammed Sajjad (23no) and Tom Kaznowski (22).

Mansha Khan then rolled back the years by taking 5-8, backed up by Mohammed Ibrahim (2-13) and Kaznowski (2-33), as the visitors were back in the pavilion for 80.

Eldwick & Gilstead also triumphed, by 27 runs at Wilsden, who are now bottom.

The twin villages chose to bat and scored 133, Matthew Sharp hitting 45, Jacob Roach 25 and skipper Arnie Raistrick 21 as Chris Longley took 5-43, Sam Mitchell 3-40 and Daniel Bosworth 2-25.

The outstanding Longley then scored 50 but that accounted for almost half of their runs as they only totalled 106, with Matthew D’arcy-Brain scoring 13 and Ben Mitchell 17 as the influential Sharp bagged 5-25 and Raistrick 3-30.

In many ways, Hepworth & Idle II notched the best result of the day, defeating table-toppers Silsden by 27 runs in Division Two.

The Westfield Laners made 169-9 after winning the toss, with Mark Davies (36) and Chris Hawksworth (59) putting on 54 for the second wicket, Joe Allatt making 20 not out down the order.

Allatt then took 2-21 but John Bogue (5-39) and Mohammed Abdullah (3-32) took the bulk of the wickets as Silsden replied with 142.

Bradford & Bingley III are bottom after a three-wicket defeat by Skipton CI at Sandy Lane.

Sent in, Bingley could make only 79, with James Crossley and Farhan Khalid both scoring 16 and Shahbaz Ahmed 11.

Ahmed then took 5-28 and Khalid 2-24 but they were the only successful bowlers.

Bingley Congs III had a double weekend in Division Three, firstly losing at leaders Cononley and then beating Cowling II at Beckfoot Lane.

Congs won the toss against Cononley but struggled at first, until Jordan Robinson (29) and Sarfraz Mahmood (39) came to the crease, finishing on 113.

Cononley then punished any loose Congs deliveries to win by five wickets, Shahid Mahmood taking 2-23.

Congs then racked up 255-7 at their main ground against Cowling II, with the top five all making healthy contributions.

Andrew Copping (50) and Paul Sansom (53) put on 96 for the first wicket with Ben Nattrass (30) and Waj Mahmood (62) adding 77 for the third, Sarfraz Mahmood weighing in with 29.

Cowling II were then dismissed for 135.

Wilsden II won a gritty match at Gargrave II, who were dismissed for 64 after being sent in, Luke Stableford taking 4-23, Jack Dooley 3-2 and Owen Pacey 2-11.

Wilsden triumphed by three wickets, with Nigel Butterfield, Stableford (12 each) and Huw Pacey (15) all making double figures.

Hepworth & Idle III lost by 45 runs at Airedale II in Division Four, with Zach Holland (2-22), teenager Finley Matthews (2-29) and Daniel Moore (2-22) in the wickets.

Sean McEvoy (41) then dominated the reply of 74, Finley’s brother Archie Matthews scoring 14.
