Bradford motorcycling ace Dean Harrison was in sparkling form at the prestigious North West 200 over the weekend in Northern Ireland.

The 34-year-old, who rides for DAO Racing, managed three podiums over the weekend, also coming fourth twice and fifth once.

Harrison showed remarkable consistency over the three days of action, which will surely give him confidence heading into the Isle of Man TT, the jewel in the crown of the road racing season.

He won the Senior TT in 2019, and will be hoping to so again this year, with the event getting taking place between May 29 and June 10.

The North West is a huge event in its own right, and always attracts the finest road racers around.

Having looked bright in qualifying, Harrison produced solid showings in the two Thursday races, coming fifth in the Supersport event and fourth in the Superstock.

The Bradfordian picked up another fourth-placed finish in Saturday’s Supersport race, before picking up his first podium of the event in the Superbike format, finishing third, less than a second behind winner Glenn Irwin.

Harrison did not compete in the Supertwin races at the event, perhaps allowing him some welcome respite.

He returned to the road for his penultimate ride of the weekend in Saturday’s Superstock race, coming third once again.

And he rounded off the event by taking another third-placed finish in the feature Superbike race, with Irwin coming out on top again.

There was controversy at the event as two of the leading contenders, Peter Hickman and Josh Brookes, were denied the chance to ride for FHO Racing in the Superstock and Superbike classes due to a technical infringement concerning their wheels.

Hickman did at least partake in Saturday’s Supersport race, coming third, around 0.2 seconds ahead of fourth-placed Harrison.
