The Bradford Premier League are hoping for a resolution to an "internal dispute" at Brighouse Cricket Club.

The Division Three side have foreited both of their league games so far, meaning they currently sit on -40 points.

As of yet, they have not resigned from the league, with the Bradford Premier League releasing a statement on their website to confirm the current situation.

It read: "Brighouse have not resigned from the league.

"Its officials confirmed that their games on the weekend of April 30 had been forfeited and subsequently informed the league that they would be forfeiting both games on May 6.

"This was despite strenuous attempts by the league to resolve the current impasse during which club officials reiterated their intention to forfeit all future games this season.

"This is clearly an unacceptable and unsustainable situation that cannot be allowed to continue.

"The management board will consider all the available options when it convenes this week.

"In the meantime, the league is continuing its efforts to achieve a resolution that will see the resumption of cricket at Brighouse.

"The management board sympathises with all the clubs affected by the internal dispute at Brighouse and will not be making any further statement until after its meeting this week."

While Brighouse have been forfeiting league games, Bowling Old Lane played two in two days last weekend in Division Two.

They enjoyed an eight-wicket win over Crossflatts on Saturday, but were brought back down to earth on Sunday, losing by nine runs against Hopton Mills despite nearly pulling off one the greatest comebacks of all time.

Abdullah Ijaz took 3-31 as Old Lane dismissed Hopton for 185, and the same player came in at No.11 with his side floundering on 105-9 in the reply.

But Ijaz, perhaps buoyed by his earlier wickets, thrashed 52 from 48 balls to take his side to the brink of victory, before being run out in the final over of the innings.
