OMAR Hayat had a day to remember for Mewies Solicitors Craven League newcomers Bowling Baptist.

They were in Wynn Cup action at Bradley and posted 131, with important contributions from Omair Ishtiaq (31) and Mudassar Hussain (26).

Then Hayat got the ball in his hand and took 6-12, including a hat-trick, as the home side were toppled for 77.

All of the Craven League cups, apart from the Manorlands Plate, are being played in mini leagues this season, and top-flight newcomers Eldwick & Gilstead are showing early signs of being able to cope against their peers.

Their Wynn Cup opponents were Division One Haworth Road Meths, who made only 88 after opting to bat at Grange Road, keeper Charles Briggs top-scoring with 23 as Ajeet Singh (3-5) led the bowling attack.

Steve Timperley (22) and Matthew Sharp (25) then completed decent all-round games as the twin villages won by five wickets, despite Mohammed Sajjad’s 3-17.

Hepworth & Idle lost their second close match in succession, this time by six runs at Haworth, who made 129 after winning the toss, Westfield Lane skipper Simon Raistrick taking 4-22.

Keeper Luke Harland led the way with the bat for Hepworth & Idle with 37, but 15 apiece from Raistrick, Jonny Thompson and Chris Hawksworth, as well as 12 from Harvey Matthews, was not quite enough.

Wilsden won the toss at home to Riddlesden and sent the visitors in, who made 189.

The home side never threatened that score and were dismissed for 66, with only Chris Longley (15), skipper Sam Mitchell (11) and keeper Ian Pacey (10) reaching double figures.

There was no joy for Bowling Baptist II in the John Clayton Cup, however, as they were dismissed for 65 inside 23 overs by visitors Skipton CI II in the new 40-over competition, with Ariyaan Ali (12) and keeper Andrew George (13no) doing best with the bat.

CI then won by three wickets, Ghazanfar Bashir (3-14) and Asad Hussain (3-17) shining with the ball.

Bradford & Bingley III were indebted to Shahbaz Ahmed, whose 47 helped them to a three-wicket win at home to Haworth II.

The Brontelanders were back in the pavilion for 100, with James Crossley (3-15) leading the attack, and Ahmed, who had earlier taken 2-12, then stole the show with the bat as Bingley triumphed.

The efforts of Chris Newell (30), opener Bradley Elliott (26) and Zach Holland (19no) were not enough for Hepworth & Idle III, who lost by 34 runs at new boys Silsden II.

In the Cowling Cup, which is still a T20, Wilsden could not defend a reasonable total of 128-5 at Cowling II, with Abdul Basit Mahmood (32), Jose Cherian (23) and Harrison Houldsworth (27) in the runs.

Cowling won by six wickets in the 18th over, with Cherian taking 2-32.

Paul Sansom was an obvious choice as man of the match for Bingley Congs III at Ingrow II, scoring 43 not out and taking a sharp catch.

Ingrow won the toss and were dismissed for 72, Andrew Greenwood (3-7) being in a mean mood, and Congs won by six wickets in the 18th over.

Hepworth & Idle II were not tested by Denholme II at Westfield Lane, with the latter being skittled for 60, Yousaf Iqbal (36) helping to speed the hosts to victory in 10 overs.
