BAILDON lost their re-arranged top-of-the-table Counties Two Yorkshire clash at home to Harrogate Pythons on Saturday, falling to a 39-19 defeat.

With most Bradford District sides having a week's break from league action, it was Baildon who took centre stage at the weekend.

The game between themselves and Harrogate was initially played last month, but had to be abandoned partway through after Pythons full-back Harry Parrish suffered a nasty neck injury.

Given the nature of the injury, it was not possible to move the stricken player, so the referee had no choice but to call the game off.

Parrish was taken to hospital in an ambulance but fortunately was discharged later that day.

The scores were tied at 7-7 in that game when it was abandoned, but things were less evenly-matched on Saturday, as Harrogate's Hugh Tatlow proved the star man with a hat-trick of tries.

Will Clough's penalty put the Pythons ahead, and though Baildon hit back with an unconverted try, Tatlow soon crossed to put the visitors 8-5 in front.

A well-worked move from a scrum ended with a Joe Bentham try in the corner, a fine Clough conversion putting Harrogate 10 points ahead.

Sam Beagrie then set up Tatlow for his second score, before Clough scored a try after his side had won a scrum against the head.

Clough converted both of those tries to give the Pythons an impressive 29-5 lead at the break.

Baildon hit back with a converted try at the start of the second half, but Tatlow quickly quashed any hopes of a home comeback when he went over for his third score out wide.

The Bradford side managed another try a few minutes before time, but Harrogate had the last word, after Clough pounced on a loose ball from a scrum and sprinted clear to score.
