THE Lord Mayor visited a get-to-know-you social event and water-themed games day held by the City of Bradford Swimming Club last Sunday, as they welcomed the swimmers and families from their new artistic swimming division.

The afternoon was also used to celebrate the achievements of the past few months as both the artistic teams, under their new badge of City of Bradford, and the elite swimming club have enjoyed recent successes.

The Artistic Swimming teams competed at a national competition at the London Aquatic Centre in the Olympic Pool and were ranked tenth overall in the country including being National Champions in the 15 and under age group.

In addition, six swimmers from the City of Bradford Swimming Club qualified and competed in the Summer National Championships and British Summer Championships which were held at Ponds Forge in Sheffield and they have also won many medal placings at events they have attended during the season.

The artistic swimming division is looking to welcome more club members from September as they begin to choreograph routines for their new teams for next season. Any juniors who are competent swimmers and who are interested in joining a beginner’s class can message Head Coach, Charlotte Hughes, via their facebook page City of Bradford Artistic Swimming.

Swimming clubs across the Bradford area, including Bingley, Bradford, Bradford Dolphins and Ilkley feed into feed into the City of Bradford Swimming Club, and they are also always on the look out for new competitive swimmers to join their elite squad.

As a keen athlete himself, The Lord Mayor expressed his pride in the club and congratulated them on their dedication and results this year, wishing both disciplines well for the forthcoming season.
