Bradford City Reserves 2, Stoke City Reserves 0

Two goals in five second-half minutes gave City another home win in the Pontin's Holiday League Central tonight.

David Brown's inch-perfect cross was fired home from close range by Alex Rhodes in the 52nd minute, and Brown was again the provider in the 56th minute.

His shot was only parried by Danzielle St Louis-Hamilton, Leon Osborne tucking the rebound home.

Alex Rhodes could have made it three in the 83rd minute but shot over, and Osborne's finishing let him down a minute later.

City keeper Nick Jordan ensured a clean sheet by bringing off a fine save two minutes later to deny Demar Phillips from a free-kick.

Chances were few and far between in a somewhat dour first half at Valley Parade as Bradford City, having beaten Leicester City 3-0 a week ago faced a Stoke City side still smarting having been on the wrong end of a similar scoreline against Walsall.

For the Bantams, Stuart McCall was taking a second look at Coventry City youngster Callum Burgess and Portsmouth youth keeper Nick Jordan.

The visitors had the more experienced side with Jon Parkin, Demar Phillips and Marlon Broomes all in their starting line-up.

It wasn't until the 12th minute that the first sight of a goal came when Brown's effort was marginally wide of the mark as it went to the right of St Louis-Hamilton's post.

Phillips had a golden opportunity to put the visitors in front, which was their first attempt on goal, but his shot from outside the area just skimmed over Jordan's bar.

With half-time looming, St Louis Hamilton had to be quick to get down to a low shot from Luke Morgan to prevent them trailing at the break.

It wasn't long before the deadlock was broken with City taking an early second-half lead from Rhodes, and Osborne doubled the advantage four minutes later.

Rhodes could have made it three when his effort, from a Burgess ball went just over the bar and a minute later Rhodes found Osborne but again his finishing let him down.
