Eccleshill manager Mick Watson is hoping his young players can help his side finish off the season in style.

He said: "There are five games to go and I still feel a top-eight place is not beyond us," said Watson after seeing his side rescue a point from the visit of Brodsworth MW last week.

"That draw means we have lost just one of our last five so that is not a bad little run and it has ensured we didn't get dragged down into a relegation battle.

"The whole mood has changed in the camp, people are walking around with smiles on their faces again. A month ago that wasn't the case. Players were putting the work in but when match-day came around there was a tense atmosphere.

"I think Andy (assistant manager Patterson) mentioned it a couple of weeks back. He said everything was really positive until the lads found themselves a goal down and then it all changed dramatically.

"Heads went down and there was a noticeable dip in confidence, suddenly everyone was frightened of making a mistake."

Watson has introduced a number of younger players into the side and has been pleased with their impact.

He said: "We have given young lads like Aston Mazurke and Marcus Edwards a run in the side and they done really well. Some others have played a few games and also made a good impression.

"The kids don't have any fear and their game reflects that. All we need to know is if they are capable of doing the job and we have been pleasantly surprised."
