Leeds United's revived promotion charge could be hit by suspensions to key players.

Alan Sheehan, the goal hero of Tuesday's 1-0 win at Doncaster Rovers that lifted Leeds to within a point of the play-offs, also picked up a tenth booking of the season.

That means he will miss the matches against promotion rivals Carlisle and Huddersfield Town.

And goalkeeper Casper Ankergren has pleaded guilty to an FA misconduct charge of throwing something into the crowd at the Swindon match.

He has requested a personal hearing to explain the circumstances, but could also find himself suspended.

Brighton are trying to persuade Leeds to allow Ian Westlake to extend his loan period.

The midfielder is due to return to Elland Road after Albion take on Port Vale on Saturday but manager Dean Wilkins is hoping to hang on to Westlake, who has played six games for his promotion-chasing side.

Meanwhile, Gary McAllister and his players are still enjoying the memory of how they overcame Doncaster.

The Leeds boss said: "It was a big game for big players and we had some big performances."

He was particularly pleased with the way the side coped with the intense pressure put on them by a very good Rovers side.

McAllister added: "When we had to defend we put our heads and our bodies on the line. We had obviously learned from the Port Vale match where we let them come back and grab a point.

"This was a game in hand and we won it. Now we must go on to the next game."
