BINGLEY Congs are celebrating a triple success.

Their first team have won Division One of the Craven League, their third team have been promoted from Division Four and their second team have avoided relegation from Division Two, having looked like being demoted for much of the campaign.

Congs’ title success was achieved at relegation-threatened Haworth Road Meths, who won the toss but could only total 116.

Opener Naseeb Ali scored 37 and No.6 Mohammed Sajjad struck 28 against an attack shorn of pace bowler Matty Roberts, who was at a wedding.

So Neil Copping opened the bowling instead with his pacy left-arm spinners and proved a hit, with an analysis of 3-16 from his 12 overs.

First-change Danny Pearson took 3-21, and Congs then knocked off the runs for the loss of just one wicket inside 20 overs.

Keeper and opener George Hicks made 52 not out off 58 balls, and there was just time for overseas player Johandre Barnard to score 50 not out from 37 deliveries, as the duo added 97 unbroken.

Hepworth & Idle continued their fine season with a 44-run victory at Wilsden.

Jamie Topham top-scored in the Westfield Laners’ 197-9, with contributions also coming from 18-year-olds Harvey Matthews (24) and Ryan Welsh (28), aided by the more experienced Jonny Thompson (25) and Luke Harland (22).

Chris Longley took 4-62 for Wilsden and he then scored 44 from No.8, with Ben Mitchell getting 40 from No. 10 as they added 76 for the ninth wicket.

But their efforts were still only enough to get the hosts to 153, as Jonathan Robinson took 5-31.

Matthew Sharp again proved what a key individual he is for Eldwick & Gilstead in Division Two.

He scored 116 of their 255-7 at Foulridge, adding 126 for the third wicket with Deependra Rathore (28).

Sharp then took 4-35 and Kieren Temprell 4-54 as Foulridge replied with a decent 220.

Either Silsden (315 points), Eldwick & Gilstead (309) or Long Lee (301) will be promoted alongside champions Riddlesden.

The final day on Saturday sees E&G at struggling Skipton CI, while Silsden have a home derby against Bradley, and Long Lee host lowly Airedale.

Two from Airedale, Bradford & Bingley III and CI will be relegated, and B&B did their cause no good by losing to Long Lee by four wickets.

Sent in at their Wagon Lane ground, they could only score 113, and that was largely down to skipper Adam Swallow’s 61, which included four fours and two sixes.

No.9 Swallow added 78 for the eighth wicket with No.8 Tom Watson (16) as they recovered from 35-6, but the last three wickets fell without addition to the score.

The visitors had their own collapse, going from 32-0 to 36-3, but three players then scored 20 or more to defy Shahbaz Ahmed (3-35).

Congs II could only get 57 at Silsden, with just Simon Ricketts (10) and Safraz Mahmood (16) reaching double figures.

Jonny Teale then took 3-14 but couldn’t prevent a five-wicket Silsden win.

In Division Three, Hepworth & Idle II are favourites to be promoted alongside champions Thornton-in-Craven.

The Westfield Laners’ second string are on 311 points, 10 more than third-placed Cononley.

Hepworth & Idle were at home to Wilsden II and sent them in, Tanveer Hussain, who made 78 off 100 balls, including 11 fours and a six, featuring in two half-century stands.

He added 61 for the first wicket with Luke Stableford (22) and 95 for the third with Mudassar Riaz (52), Bryn Pacey weighing in with 35 in their 211-5.

However, Hepworth & Idle had their own hero in Yousaf Iqbal, whose 75 helped to carry them to a three-wicket win with one ball remaining of the 42nd over.

Mark Davies (28) and James Bentley (37) had earlier put on 58 for the second wicket, while they were seen home by Dave Dunne (24no) and Swaraj Thakur (32no), with Pacey (4-58) and Riaz (3-66) taking all the wickets.

In Division Four, Bingley Congs III won a remarkable match at Lawkholme Lane against title rivals Keighley III, both of whom have been promoted.

Keighley won the toss and batted, but for once their batting failed them and they were dismissed for 104, with Ali Asghar taking 6-16 and Shahid Mahmood 3-31.

That total seemed to be ample, however, when Congs were 7-5, but Mahmood (64) and Andrew Greenwood (23no) kept calm as Congs won by four wickets after 25 overs, making Keighley pay for five dropped catches.

Congs are on 326 points and Keighley 312 with one match remaining, with Congs at home to Glusburn II and Keighley III at third-placed Airedale II.
