Stuart McCall would love to put his feet up in the dugout tomorrow.

The Bantams boss wants to be able to kick back and enjoy a game this season, instead of living on his nerves.

"It would be nice to have the luxury of relaxing a little bit rather than being on tenterhooks all the time," admitted McCall.

"It would be great to sit down with 15 minutes to go because we are 3-0 up and cruising and not have to be out there in the technical area. I've not had that yet.

"Even when we won 4-1 at Dagenham, we scored two of the goals in the last minute - and when we were leading Chester 2-0, we let one in at the end to get everyone going again.

"Look at how dominant we were at Accrington and we were still biting our nails right up to the end."

If City's players are to give the manager an easier afternoon against Notts County on Saturday, they must sharpen up in front of goal.

McCall's men have netted just 11 times in 11 league games at Valley Parade and only basement side Wrexham have scored fewer on their own patch.

McCall described the first half of City's season as being "absolutely average" and expects to see a big improvement between now and May.

He said: "We do need to score more goals at home. An average of one a game just isn't good enough.

"I've got all the DVDs from the games and we're getting them edited into shots on target, corners and free-kicks. Our bit lasts four or five minutes while the opposition's is only 30 seconds, yet they are still ending up with a draw.

"When you're on top in games, you have to finish teams off but we're not doing that.

"I think back to the Darlington game which was probably our best performance as a team - their manager Dave Penney was delighted to get away with a 0-0.

"We're getting terrific support every week and I'd like to see us play with more freedom and entertain the fans.

"From day one, we've tried to go out there and do that. We were hoping for that against Lincoln when we scored so early but it didn't happen."

County are on a torrid run but McCall is well aware of other so-called home bankers that did not go to plan.

He said: "If we perform like we did against Lincoln, that won't be good enough; if we perform like we did at home to Accrington, it won't be good enough.

"We should be looking to beat teams like Accrington, Brentford and Stockport here but we've found out that any team can beat anyone on the day.

"Notts County are fighting for their lives and will want to turn it round. They've brought a couple of people in recently and will have a little bit of freshness in the team.

"Yes, we will be hoping to get three points but we will only do that by playing well, working hard and taking our chances."
