Silsden 3, Maine Road 3

The Cobbydalers' rocky home form continues to cause them problems but they did at least come from two goals down to claim a home draw from yesterday's Vodkat League visit of Maine Road thanks to a stoppage-time penalty.

Silsden must have thought they were in for a resounding home win when they opened the scoring after just 50 seconds. A break from midfield saw Graham Holmes get away and he laid the ball back for Andy King to slot in.

But the Manchester visitors recovered well, with Neil Chappell levelling in the 16th minute and adding a second goal just after the half-hour mark.

Silsden forced a corner on the stroke of half-time but the Maine Road defence cleared and Carl Smith put them 3-1 up after a rapid counter-attack.

"They hit the inside of the post and Martin Foulger parried a free-kick after the break, so I'm racking my brains again," admitted Silsden boss Paul Schofield, who responded with one of his match-winning double substitutions.

With 20 minutes remaining, Schofield sent on Thomas Dibb and Lee Reilly - and five minutes later Reilly cut the deficit when he was first to react after a James Gill shot had been blocked.

Then in the fourth minute of time added on, King broke into the area and had his heels clipped from behind. Gill stepped forward to fire in the equaliser from the spot.
