Farsley 1, Altrincham 1

Damien Reeves scored and was then sent off as Farsley gained a point to keep their opponents in the relegation zone and themselves out of it.

Reeves broke the deadlock in the 12th minute with a good finish, latching onto a throughball from Michael Pearson before slotting home.

The scorer can consider himself unfortunate to have been sent off in the 36th minute for a second yellow card.

He jumped for a cross with a defender but could not connect. The ball smacked into the face of his opponent, who went to ground with the referee assuming Reeves had made contact with him.

The official, who was a little pedantic, showed Reeves a second yellow and also booked Amjad Iqbal and Simeon Bambrook in the first period.

Altincham made the most of their numerical advantage after the break and penned the hosts in their own half for much of the time.

It was no surprise when they equalised midway through the second period.

It was Colin Little who got the goal but Farsley, led by outstanding skipper Ryan Crossley, held out to claim a vital point. Altrincham would have gone above the Celts with a win.

Caretaker boss John Deacey said: "It was never a sending-off offence. We will look at the video and then appeal so that Damien doesn't get a ban.

"Only getting a point at home was disappointing but the lads battled well and dug deep and I can't fault them."

Farsley now hope on-loan forward Steve Torpey will be able to make his debut at Crawley Town on Saturday.
