FARSLEY Celtic maintained their 100 per cent record at the top of the Yorkshire Amateur League Supreme Division after heavily defeating a struggling Drighlington side 6-1 at home.

Craig Farrand scored twice for Farsley in the second half, while there were further goals from Danny Lyons, Louis Surtees, Adam Kellet and Tom Ormondroyd. AJ Topping scored a consolation for the visitors,

However, Drighlington who are now 12th, could feel slightly hard done to by the scoreline, with Celts manager Barry Thirsk saying: “It probably sounds weird but we were awful today. We were casual, slow and going through the motions.

“But take nothing away from a young Drighlington team who worked hard and will be okay in time.”

Elsewhere, Athletico thrashed rock-bottom Lower Hopton in a 5-1 away win. The hosts put in an improved display though and were holding their Bradford opponents at 1-1 with 70 minutes on the clock.

Athletico scored at regular five minute intervals after that though, with Abid Khan and Raaj Mohammed both netting twice and Adeeb Jawad also on target to see their side up to fifth.

Route One Rovers went up to seventh after inflicting a fourth consecutive defeat on Calverley United. An out of form United actually took an early lead, but second half goals from Shoaib Iqbal and Jonathan Mwembie secured a 2-1 win for Rovers.

Meanwhile, Littletown stayed third, after a Scott Lightowler treble secured a 5-1 win over Ryburn United.

In the Premier Division, Stanningley Old Boys earned a 3-2 win over previously unbeaten Collegians.

Both teams served up an entertaining clash on a dry, yet uneven, surface that did neither team any favours.

Hosts Stanningley went 2-0 ahead early on through Adam Pulford and Harry Fryer. But James Lodge reduced the deficit to in the 44th minute, before Scott Kirkbright equalised soon after the interval.

The Old Boys showed good composure to get back into the game, with Fryer grabbing his second of the game and a deserved winner in the 76th minute.

Idle, who only lost four league games last season, have made a surprisingly poor start in the Championship. They sit third-bottom with one point from three matches after a nail-biting 4-2 home defeat against Dewsbury Rangers.

Man of the match Joe Woodhouse gave Dewsbury the lead in the 35th minute but this was soon cancelled out by Luke Gray

Idle went ahead in the 55th minute courtesy of Lee Cookson but soon tired, as Dewsbury drew level from a Arista Llewellyn penalty in the 75th minute.

A second goal from Woodhouse in the 80th minute meant Dewsbury led 3-2, with the icing on the cake delivered by Michael Thompson five minutes later.

In Division One, two sides that had not yet registered a point met on Saturday, with a young Athletico Reserves side emerging as surprisingly emphatic 6-0 winners over Farsley Celtic Reserves.

Farsley sink to the bottom, while Athletico go eighth. Hussain Mohammed and Basiru Jadama both scored twice, while Mazen Chalifa and Zeeshan Haider also netted.

In Division Two, Prospect went fifth with a 4-1 home win over lowly Sandal Wanderers. Winger Aballah Hayden opened the scoring for Prospect, who doubled their lead through a Kyle Shah penalty.

Star centre forward Karl Ferguson then netted twice to make it 4-0, before Wanderers got a late consolation.
