JOHN Kear believes Saturday’s transatlantic tussle with Toronto Wolfpack will provide a good marker with where his side are at in 2019 at the halfway stage of Betfred Championship action.

The two in-form teams go head-to-head at Lamport Stadium tomorrow (kick-off 7pm British time), with Kear’s side boasting seven successive wins ahead of the trip to Canada.

Brian McDermott’s Wolfpack have just the one defeat on the league ladder so far and have six straight victories under their belt heading into the contest.

Kear said: “We are looking forward to the challenge – they are a Super League team in disguise.

“They are a formidable outfit with the likes of Jon Wilkin and it will be one heck of a test for us.

“The travel will make it tough for us, the team they have certainly makes it tough but we have signed up for the challenge and we will embrace it.

“It is two form teams going head-to-head and it will provide a good marker of where we are having played everyone.

“We won all four games over Easter and apart from St Helens no one else has done that, so I am really proud of the players’ massive efforts and so should the fans be.

“Now we prepare to Toronto and is important the players remain focused but there has to be an element of embracing the occasion too."
