I HAVE been saying for the past few weeks that there are no easy games in this division – and we are presented with another tough opponent this weekend in Toulouse Olympique.

We have been looking at their footage and they play with a lot of ball movement.

They have a good hooker in Parata, who was at Barrow last year, and two good halves in Stan Robin and Jonathon Ford.

They are very much a left-sided attacking unit – through Ford – but we can’t just focus on him as both Parata and Robin are very fine players.

They also have some big forwards who get their momentum going, so it is a challenge and they do like to play a lot of football.

In that they are different to York. They were slightly conservative and focused on completions, but this side like to chance their arm and back their Gallic flair, so there will be a different dynamic to this game.

There were a lot of plus points to take from last week's game. I thought we started very well, which was one thing we majored on, and I also thought some of our middle channel defence was good, where we controlled the ruck.

Where we let ourselves down was in our composure when we had the opposition under the pump.

We tried to score off every play rather than trying to build sets, look after the ball and build pressure, so obviously we will be looking to improve in that area this time.

Although I feel like it has been a long season already – with the Yorkshire Cup games in January – the season gets underway at all grades this week.

The Under-19s were at Dudley Hill on Thursday to take on St Helens, and both the Reserves and the Under 16s are in action on Wednesday. The Reserves travel to Wakefield with the Under-16s taking on Huddersfield Giants at Dudley Hill.

It’s an exciting time and I think the fans will enjoy watching the Under-19s, Reserves and Under-16s so they can see what’s on the fringes and what’s coming through.

This week we received the sad news that Peter Fox had died. I knew Peter very well indeed and he was one of the tutors on the first rugby league course I went on.

I worked with him extensively on Radio Five, where he was the senior summariser when I first started working for them and as such, I was his apprentice. I spent a lot of time listening to him and really enjoying his company.

Obviously, what he didn’t know about rugby league wasn’t worth knowing. He was a great student of the game.

People go on about this brash Yorkshireman who was just a motivator. Well, he certainly was a motivator of the highest order but he was also very clever technically and tactically and knew his players inside out.

He could organise his teams very well and was a gifted coach. But Bradford Northern fans, as they were then, won’t need me to remind them of the impact he had on the club.

Just a word on the support we got last week against York. We really appreciate the support and the backing they gave, and they are very important to us, but they must realise that just because we are Bradford Bulls other teams are not going to lay down and let us win.

All victories have to be earned and we hope they keep supporting us every week.
